Exposure to options for careers and community connection is important for high school aged students as they begin to make choices about their futures. Through the North Carolina’s Student Assistant Program 17 year old’s can participate as poll workers. We will use this program as an anchor to not only add a younger demographic to our pool of workers, but also to speak at schools to both demystify voting and put another option on the table for a career in local government. It is as important as ever to support voter confidence. By humanizing the process at an early age and giving a platform for conversation we can do this.
